3 Techniques
The technique for this photo was to use multiple different light sources and reflectors. I followed a diagram that had 3 different light sources, 3 reflectors, and a mirror. Each was placed at an angle that added some sort of light to the photo. I really like the variation of lights in this photo and you can see how the colors overlap. Also the reflectors created highlights in the flowers that otherwise would not have been seen.
My second technique was to set up 3 different light sources and take a picture with a long exposure, while turning certain lights off after so many seconds. The first light is turned off after 2 seconds, the second light is turned off after 6 seconds, and the last light is left on for the full exposure of the photo. I really like how you can tell which parts of the photo had the light shining on them the longest and which parts don't have much light because it was turned off in the beginning.
The technique for this photo was to use light to reflect or repeat your image in the photo. Most people use water to reflect their image, but shadows also have a very similar affect. I really like how the lamp was reflected on the wall with the same pattern along with the bird and the leaves at the bottom. I really like the colors and the angle too.

Myth: Persephone
This photo represents how Persephone had to stay in the underworld for a season each year. I blurred the whole picture and then erased the back of her, her arm, the rope and the door nob so that they would be the only things in focus. I desaturated the door to represent how dead the underworld is and gave her a lot of saturation along with the light coming from the door because she will always be a part of the earth where she belongs. The light shining through the door shows the vibrant colors of the earth. It is trying to poor out and seep through the door while she is reaching to open it but the rope is keeping her from it. The shadows represent Hades and how he captured her. They are encompassing her and they are reaching for the door as if to keep it shut and not allow her to go back to earth. The red dress she is wearing simbolizes the pomegranate and how by her eating the seeds, it affected the rest of her life and is always there as a reminder to her.
